Commercial Litigation/Business Litigation
One of eleven lawyers in the more than 4,000 member NH Bar Association identified as one of "America's Leading Business Lawyers" for commercial litigation by Chambers and Partners Legal Publishers. Chambers is an independent, objective rating service whose recommendations are based on interviews with clients and other attorneys.
Listed for more than 10 years in the "Best Lawyers in America" and is one of twelve New Hampshire Lawyers identified in both Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury Litigation. "Best Lawyers in America" is a Woodward/White publication that rates lawyers independently based upon evaluation by other lawyers.
One of the three attorneys in the Concord area and one of the fourteen best attorneys in New Hampshire selected by Best of the U.S., Inc. for commercial litigation. Personal Injury Litigation

Trained as an environmental litigator and has handled a number of cases involving groundwater and subsurface pollution, surface water pollution, pesticide applications, hazardous waste disposal, Superfund sites, asbestos disposal and other matters.

Thirty-eight years of trial experience include employment, tax abatement, intellectual property, construction, products liability, sexual abuse of minors, civil rights and other matters. A frequent speaker at seminars on trial practice issues.

Religious and Nonprofit Organizations
Counsels churches, religious and other nonprofit organizations on a broad spectrum of issues of unique concern to them. The author of Ministry and the American Legal System, a 400 page hardcover guide for clergy and lay leaders and Managing Risks; First Steps in Identifying Congregational Liability, a monograph on risk management for churches and a contributing author to When a Congregation is Betrayed: Responding to Clergy Misconduct (Alban Institute 2006). A frequent speaker on legal issues relating to religious and nonprofit groups. Past president, secretary, and a board member of the Christian Legal Society, a national organization of attorneys of the Christian faith.
Other professional, charitable, and civic commitments have included membership in the NH Board of Bar Examiners; board of directors of A Better Chance, a national organization providing educational opportunities to minority young people; board of directors and audit committee chair of EnergyNorth, Inc., a NYSE listed company; board of directors and vice president of Mount Zion Christian Schools, a regional Christian school system; board of directors and treasurer of the New Hampshire Council of Churches; and a trustee of the Scottish Heritage Society.
